Nitriding heat treatment manufacturers briefly analyze liquid nitriding in nitriding treatment

Ion nitriding first generates the r phase, and then when hydrogen carbide is added, it turns into the compound layer and dispersion layer of the ε phase. The increase of the dispersion layer is of great help to the increase of fatigue strength. The temperature for ion nitriding treatment can start from 350℃. Due to the selection of materials and their related mechanical properties, the treatment time can range from several minutes to long-term treatment. Next, Xinguang Heat Treatment, a nitriding heat treatment manufacturer, will specifically explain liquid nitriding to you.

Ion nitriding
This method involves placing a workpiece in a nitriding furnace, first evacuate the furnace to a vacuum of 10-2 to 10-3 Torr (mm Hg), then introduce N2 gas or a mixture of N2 and H2, adjust the furnace to 1 to 10 Torr, connect the furnace body to the anode and the workpiece to the cathode, and apply a direct current voltage of several hundred volts between the north and south poles. At this point, the N2 gas inside the furnace undergoes a brilliant discharge and turns into positive ions, moving towards the working surface. In an instant, the cathode voltage drops sharply, causing the positive ions to rush towards the cathode surface at high speed, converting kinetic energy into gas energy, which raises the surface temperature of the workpiece. Due to the impact of nitrogen ions, Fe.C.O is ejected from the surface of the workpiece. When elements are splashed out and combine with nitrogen ions to form FeN, iron nitride is gradually adsorbed onto the workpiece to undergo nitriding. Ion nitriding basically uses nitrogen gas, but if hydrogen carbide gases are added, ion soft nitriding treatment can be carried out. However, it is generally referred to as ion nitriding treatment. The nitrogen concentration on the surface of the workpiece can be adjusted by changing the partial pressure ratio of the mixed gas (N2 + H2) filled in the furnace. During pure ion nitriding, a single-phase r '(Fe4N) structure with an N content of 5.7 to 6.1%wt is obtained on the working surface, and the thick layer is within 10μm. This compound layer is strong and tough rather than a porous layer and is not easy to fall off. Due to the continuous adsorption and dispersion of iron nitride by the workpiece into the interior, the arrangement from the surface to the interior is FeN → Fe2N → Fe3N→ Fe4N in sequence. The N content of single-phase ε (Fe3N) is 5.7 to 11.0%wt, and that of single-phase ξ (Fe2N) is 11.0 to 11.35%wt. Ion nitriding first generates the r phase, and then when hydrogen carbide is added, it turns into the compound layer and dispersion layer of the ε phase. The increase of the dispersion layer is of great help to the increase of fatigue strength. The corrosion resistance is better with ε. The nitriding heat treatment manufacturer mentioned that the temperature of ion nitriding treatment can start from 350℃. Considering the selection of materials and their related mechanical properties, the treatment time can range from several minutes to long-term treatment. This method is different from the past treatment method that used thermal decomposition to chemically react and nitride. This method utilizes high ionic energy. Materials that were previously considered difficult to handle, such as stainless steel, titanium, and cobalt, can now be simply subjected to excellent surface hardening treatment.
